Answer:

Henrik Ibsen was known as the father of realism.

Step-by-step explanation:

Realism is the artistic movement that deals with the natural issue of things unlike that of the Romantics or the Transcendentalists. They represent the things as they are in reality, with no sugar-coating words, no out-of-the-world expressions in giving descriptions of things or people. They rejected the exotic image given by other authors of different eras, especially that of the romantics who uses a lot of exaggerated words in their work descriptions.

Henrik Ibsen, through his many plays and theater productions, gave a realistic image of things as they are in his time. This led to massive protests, like his play "Ghosts" or "Rhinoceros" which deal with the real life issues of the society. The addressing of the known but yet unaddressed societal issues led to many revolutions, some supporting the issues and some opposing the showing of such issues in public places. His other play "A Doll's House" which deals with the theme of "husband- wife" relationship, the norm of the society confining the wife to the house, and giving of authority to the husband over his wife, the perceived roles of women in being a wife and in motherhood also led to vast criticism from all angles. But this strong yet persistence of Ibsen led to many upcoming authors and writers to follow in his footsteps, thus resulting in the spreading of the "realism" form of literature.
