Using the quadratic formula -b +/-√b^2-4(ac) / 2a solve for x:

10 +/-√(-10)^2 -4(1*27) / 2*1

x = 5 +/-2√13

x = -2.21

or x = 12.21

The negative solution is between -2 and -3.

The positive solution is between 12 and 13.
