Sally is making pillow covers. The last step is to add trim. She purchased 1 yard of trim, but used 3/8 of it on another project. If Sally uses the remaining 5/8 yard of trim to complete 2 pillow covers, how much will she use on each cover?

Answer:

5/16 of a yard per pillow

Explanation:

1. Divide 5/8 by 2 (or 2/1)

2. 5/8 * 1/2 (following the division of fraction models of 'keep, change, flip'

5*1 = 5 and 8 * 2 = 16 5/16
