In a rectangle, opposite sides are parallel and equal in length.

There are 2 pairs of opposite sides in a rectangle. So it's sufficient to measure one side in each pair and multiply the result by 2 to obtain the desired value.

So Trina only needs to measure 2 non opposite sides and multiply their sum by 2.
