ABCD = ABED + CED

A and B have same y coordinate

A and D have same x coordinate

AB ⊥ AD

AB = 4 - (-5) = 9

AD = 2 - (-3) = 5

EC = BC - AD = (2 + 5) - 5 = 2

ABCD = 9 x 5 + 1/2 (9 x 2) = 45 + 9 = 54
