Answer:

The Mediterranean climate region is located in southern Europe. Countries such as Spain, Italy, and Greece lie within this climate region. Characteristics of this climate region include annual temperatures between 50° F in the winter and 80° F in the summer. It is considered a mild climate region because it does not have extreme temperatures (too hot or too cold). It is known for its wet winters and dry summers. Because the summer months receive less precipitation, the region can suffer from frequent droughts. The Mediterranean climate rarely drops below freezing, allowing a variety of plants and animals to live within its borders. The region’s vegetation includes plants such as palm trees, cork oaks, and olive trees. Some of the animals in the Mediterranean ecosystem include lynxes, wild boars, deer, and rabbits.

The Mediterranean climate is Europe is located along the the southern coastline of the continent, the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. This climate manages to penetrate in certain areas like the the peninsulas that have relatively small longitudinal span.

The main characteristics of this climate are:

- change of seasons

- being mostly dry

- having seasonal rainfall

The plants and the animals in this climate region are well adapted to be able to sustain high temperatures and prolonged periods of drought. The animals tend to have short fur, are not large in size, but small and medium sized. The plants have very large root systems. They are also not growing big, but instead they are small or medium size, having thorns and needles, and being able to preserve water in them when it is drought.
