Because he was from Chicago, that started a series of events. First, he was not aware of how one should act while in the south. His behavior caused a scene and his ultimate murder. Then because of how horrific he was killed, his mother shed light on the treatment of African Americans in the south by having an open casket at the funeral. This was photographed and published in the newspapers. The treatment of the case and investigation, then, was also put in the spotlight and helped to change the laws and accountability in the south. Had Hill not been from the north, this night not have happened.
