first change them into improper fractions

(2×3)+1/2 -->7/2

(3×1)+1/2--> 7/3

7/2-7/3 now find the least common denominator (lcd) it is 6

2 goes into 6, 3 times,7×3 =21--> 21/6

3 goes into 6, 2 times, 7×2=14 --> 14/6

21/6-14/6=7/6
