My teacher can't even solve this! Can you?

Suppose you want to make a mixture of peanuts and walnuts that costs $2.70 per pound. How many pounds of peanuts at $1.50 per pound should be mixed with 24 pounds of walnuts at $3.50 per pound?

Answer:

16 pounds

Explanation:

(1.50x + 24*3.50)=(1.50x+84)

(1.50x+84)/(24+x)=2.70

Cross Multiply

1.20x=19.2

x=16 pounds

--------------------------------------

16 x 1.5 = $24

24 x 3.5 =$84

ADD = $108

108/(24+16) = $2.70
