Complete the point-slope equation of the line through (1,0) and (6,-3). Use exact numbers. I don't need work but it'd be nice to show it.

Answer:

Explanation:

Point slope form is y - y1 = m(x - x1) where m is the slope and (x1, y1) is a given point.

The formula for slope is m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) where (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) are two given points of the line

We are given 2 points, it doesn't matter which is (x1, y1) or (x2, y2), just don't mix the values of the points (use the same x and y from one point)

The slope is

m = (-3 - 0)/(6 - 1)

m = -3/5

Pick either point as (x1, y1), I'll use (6, -3), so we have...

y - (-3) = -(3/5)(x - 6)

y + 3 = -(3/5)(x + 6)
