Answer: Total costs for 49 baskets = $300

She make 145 dessert baskets the week before.

Explanation:

Given : Fixed weekly costs for rent and electricity = $200

The ingredients for one dessert basket costs = $2.50

Let x be the number of baskets made by Casey, then the total weekly cost will be :-

Total weekly costs = Fixed weekly cost + Cost of ingredients for one dessert × x

= 200+2.5x

For x= 40

Total weekly costs = $200+$2.5(40)=$200+$100=$300

i.e. Total costs for 49 baskets = $300

Her total costs for the week before 562.50.

i.e.
562.50= 200+2.5x

Subtract 200 from both sides.

362.50=2.5x

Divide 2.5 from both sides.

x=(362.50)/(2.5)=145

Hence, she make 145 dessert baskets the week before.
