x----> the number of sunflowers

y----> the number of marigolds

we know that


(x)/(y)=(4)/(5)


y=(5)/(4)x ----> equation A


x+y=45 ----> equation B

substitute equation A in equation B and solve for x


x+(5)/(4)x=45


(9)/(4)x=45


x=45*4/9=20\ sunflowers
