Answer: He broke relations with the Catholic Church

Henry VIII was King of England and Lord of Ireland from April 22, 1509 until his death.

After having married with Catherine of Aragon (widow of his brother), seeing that he could not have a son with her, besides being infatuated with Ana Bolena; he wanted to end his marriage.

Reason why Enrique appealed directly to the "Holy See" and asked Pope Clement VII to annul his marriage with Catherine of Aragon and grant him a dispensation to allow him to marry any woman.

However, he did not get the answer he was looking for, because although the pope did not agree to declare the marriage null, only granted the dispensation, presuming that this would not have much effect while Enrique remained married to Catalina.

As a result, Enrique breaks relations with the Catholic Church and creates the Anglican Church of England of which he was appointed as the only "Supreme Chief". In addition, under his government his marriage marriage with Catherine was annulled and shortly after declared valid his marriage with Ana.
