The new sense of identity in the American colonist helped lead to revolution because:

B. They viewed themselves as individuals of their states (Virginians, Rhode Islanders….etc.) that had self-governed for so long that King George’s taxes were infringing on their rights.

With a new sense of identity not liked to the British Royalty, it lead to a revolution for independence.
