Anthony is practicing kicking field goals for his High school football team. He knows that the field goal is 10 feet off the ground.

Part A: if he stands 40 feet from the field goal, how far must be kick the ball in order to make the extra point?

Part B: explain how you arrived at your conclusion.

You have to find the hypotenuse of the triangle so we are going to use the formula a^2+b^2=c^2.

The first thing we need to do is substitute 40 and 10 in for a and b which would give you 40^2+10^2.

Next you will multiply 40x40 and 10x10 which gives you 1600+100.

Lastly you want to add these together to get 1700 and then you can just search up square root of 1700 and you get 41.23.
