The correct answer is "D".

After the German defeat at the end of the First World War in 1919, this country was subject to numerous sanctions which included an economic compensation to the nations that were involved in the war and the loss of territory. This caused a major resentment among the German population, as they thought that these were actions from the Western Powers to neutralize Germany and preventing it from becoming a dominant force. "German Nationalism" appeared during this time and the Nazis eventually took power under the leadership of Adolf Hitler.
