ANSWER

146.5 {ft}^(2)

EXPLANATION

The circular pool has diameter,

d = 10ft

This means the radius is;

r = (10)/(2) = 5ft

The area of the pool is

= \pi \: {r}^(2)

=(3.14) * {5}^(2)

= 78.5

The area of the deck is equal to the area of the square minus area of circular pool.

{15}^(2) - 78.5 = 146.5 {ft}^(2)

Answer:

146.5 sq. feet.

Explanation:

Area of the deck = Large Square (with 15 ft side) - Circular Pool (with radius 10/2=5)

Large Square area =
s^2=(15)^2=225

Circular Pool area =
\pi r^2=\pi (5)^2=\pi (25)\\=25(3.14)\\=78.5

Thus, area of deck surrounding pool =
225-78.5=146.5 sq. feet
