area = (b x h) / 2

Substitute in the values we have:

500 = (50 x h) /2

Multiply both sides by 2

(this cancels out the denominator on the right)

1000 = 50 x h

Divide both sides by 50

h = 20 cm

Answer:

height = 20 cm

Explanation:

The area (A) of a triangle is calculated using the formula

A =
(1)/(2) bh ( b is the base and h the perpendicular height )

here b = 50 and A = 500, hence

(1)/(2) × 50h = 500, that is

25h = 500 ( divide both sides by 25 )

h = 20 cm
