Heredity can be described as the passing of traits/ characteristics from parents to their next generation that is to their offspring via means of either sexual or asexual reproduction.

The traits ( such as eye color, hair color, skin color) are passed in the form of genes ( segment of DNA corresponding to particular trait), which are considered as the unit of heredity.
