I think the answer is -5/8 but I’m not completely sure

Rate of change will be given by the gradient of the graph between the given intervals

For x = -4 we have the point, (-4, 0)

For x = 4 we have the point, (4, -5)

Gradient = change in y /change in x

= (0 - -5)/(-4 - 4)

= 5/-8

= -5/8

The average rate of change = -5/8
