A transformer only works with which type of current

Here is an easy way to test and identify the type of current you're working with in your workshop or laboratory. All you need is a transformer.

-- You simply hook up the unknown current to one winding of the transformer, then watch the transformer.

-- If voltage and possibly current come out of the other winding, then your supply is Alternating Current (AC).

-- If only smoke comes out of the transformer, then your supply is Direct Current (DC).
