Kia wants to order a large pizza from Frank's Pizza. Each large cheese pizza costs  $8.75 and each additional topping costs $0.50. If Kia spends $15.00, which inequality  can be used to determine the most amount of additional toppings Kia got? A 8.75 + 0.50 x ≤ 15.00 B 15.00 + 0.50 x ≤ 8.75 C 0.50 x  ≤ 15.00 D 8.75 + 0.50 x  ≥ 15.00

Answer:

The correct answer is A) 8.75 + 0.50 x ≤ 15.00

Explanation:

This is because the original cost of the pizza (8.75) is a constant and therefore should not be multiplied by anything.

Also, the number of toppings is variable and can be multiplied by 0.50.

Finally, we know she couldn't spend more than 15.00, so the number should be ≤ 15.00

Hello!

The answer is: A. 8.75 + 0.50 x ≤ 15.00

Why?

By isolating the variable (x), we have:

8.75 + 0.50x \leq15.00 \\0.50x\leq 15-8.75\\0.50x\leq 6.25\\x\leq (6.25)/(0.50)\\x\leq 12.5

So, with the result of x ≤ 12.5 , we can know that the most amount of additional toppings Kia got, is 12 toppings.

The inequality is telling us that Kia will spend 15$ or less if she orders 12 toppings or less.

Have a nice day!
