The case Taylor v. Louisiana in 1975 was about Billy Taylor that was found guilty of kidnapping and women were rulled out for jury duty unless they had written a letter to the state asking to be considered for service.

The Supreme Court State decided that States could not exclude women from jury duty and that women had the right to serve as jurors and the the accused persons also had the right to be tried by representative of the community including women.
