I might have learned it a different way but this is the way that i do it.

3x-4/14=9/10

You change the subtraction to addition

3x+4/14=9/10

Then you change the fractions to decimals

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

x = 83/210

Discussion:

3x -(4/14) = 9/10 => multiply both sides by 70

70*3x - (4/14)70 = (9/10) * 70 => as 70/14 = 5 and 70/10 = 7 and 70*3 = 210

210x - 4(5) = 9*7 => as 9*7 = 63

210x - 20 = 63 => add 20 to both sides

210x = 63 + 20 = 83 => divide both sides by 210

x = 83/210

Thank you,

MrB
