Mozart once famously praised the organ, writing, “in my eyes and ears… the king of instruments.” There are three main parts to the construction of an organ: the wind-raising device, the wind chest or soundboard with its pipes, and the mechanism admitting wind to the pipes.

Large organs are usually called the king of the instrument such as the one in 1361 in Halberstadt, Germany, the first documented permanent organ installation.
