The war of 1812 began with a conflict between the US and Great Britain over British violations of the US maritime rights, Britain imposed trade restrictions on American shipping because of the war with France and kidnapped American sailors. The war lasted from 1812 to 1815 and ended with the Treaty of Ghent. The Treaty did not change pre-war borders, it restored everything as it was before the war and no one won anything.
