The second great awakening wanted to show people that everyone was the same in the eyes of God and that slaves are same as slave owners which is why they should not be slaves. The abolition movement picked up many of these beliefs and used them in their fight for equality.

The goal of the abolitionist movement was to emancipate all slaves. The Second Great Awakening helped get the abolition movement going.
