Information literacy is the ability to evaluate information in the pursuit of knowledge. Features of an information literate person include identifying and determining the extent of information needed. Someone who is information literate is able to locate and retrieve appropriate sources of information, understand the structure of information, how it is produced and organized, and use indexes to effectively find specific resources. Other common features include being able to evaluate and synthesize the information retrieved.
