Answer:

x⁻¹ is the answer.

Explanation:

We have given an expression.

x⁻⁸ / x⁻⁷

We have to simplify above epression.

We use following two formulas to simplify it.

x⁻ᵃ = 1 / xᵃ (formula 1)

xᵃ × xᵇ = xᵃ⁺ᵇ (formula 2)

Using formula 1 to given epression,we have

x⁻⁸ × x⁷

Using formula 2 to given expression, we have

x⁻⁸⁺⁷

x⁻¹ which is the answer.

Answer:

(x^(-8))/(x^(-7))=x^(-1)

Explanation:

In division of powers with the same base, we must subtract the exponent of the denominator from the exponent of the numerator:

(a^(m))/(a^(n))=a^(m-n)

Then applying this to the problem:

(x^(-8))/(x^(-7))=x^(-8-(-7))

Eliminating the parentheses:

(x^(-8))/(x^(-7))=x^(-8+7)\\ (x^(-8))/(x^(-7))=x^(-1)
