40cm

Explanation:

1. To find the missing leg, use the Pythagorean theorem a²+ b² = c² and substitute the numbers a² + 8² = 17².

2. So a = 15 since 17²-8² = 289 - 64 =225 and the square root of 225 is 15

3. Now that all the lengths have been found. So the perimeter of the right triangle is 40cm.
