Hannah was at the store and saw a pair of jeans that she wanted. The price on the tag was $45.65, but the jeans were 20% off and taxes are 5% what would Hannah pay for the jeans with the discount and the taxes?

Answer: $38.80

If we want to know the actual amount
P Hannah would pay for the jeans, we have to subtract from the price
p that was in the tag the 20% in discount and then add the 5% in taxes:


P=p-20\%p+5\%p (1)

The 20% in discount is:


45.65((20)/(100))=9.13 (2)

The 5% in taxes:


45.65((5)/(100))=2.28 (3)

Now, we have to substitute both values in (1):


P=45.65-9.13+2.28

Finally:

P=38.80

Therefore the amount Hannah would pay for the jeans is $38.80
