Answer:

8.32 gallons of paint is needed.

Explanation:

We have that the room has 5 walls with dimensions,

Height = 8.5 feet

Lengths = 52, 52, 30, 35 and 6 feet respectively.

As the walls are in rectangle form, and 'Area of a rectangle = Length × Height'

So, the area of the walls are,

A₁ = 52 × 8.5 = 442 ft²

A₂ = 52 × 8.5 = 442 ft²

A₃ = 30 × 8.5 = 225 ft²

A₄ = 35 × 8.5 = 297.5 ft²

A₅ = 6 × 8.5 = 51 ft²

Thus, total area of the walls = 442 + 442 + 225 + 297.5 + 51 = 1457.5 ft²

Since, 175 ft² is covered by
(1)/(2) gallons of paint.

Then, 1457.5 ft² is covered by
(1)/(2* 175)* 1457.5 i.e.
(1457.5)/(350) i.e. 4.16 gallons of paint.

For 2 coats of paints on all walls, we need 4.16 × 2 = 8.32 gallons of paint.

Hence, 8.32 gallons of paint is needed.
