Hello!

Answer- Justinian was Greek, and Charlemagne was Frankish; but they were both Christian. Christianity had spread across Europe during the time of the Roman Empire, and when the Empire fell, the Church became a unifying element among the diverse cultures of Europe that otherwise had little in common.

Hope this helps!
