In the end, the children use the Tom Robinson trial to fully realize why boo stayed secluded in his house. "Scout, I think I'm beginning to understand something. I think I'm beginning to understand why Boo Radley's stayed shut up in the house all this time... it's because he wants to stay inside" (p.117.) With this quote, we see that the children, even at a young age, have seen tue evil. And this evil, unlike the monster of the Radley house, is real.
