(This is algebra II)

Find an equation in standard form of the parabola that passes through these points.
(1,-2),(2,-4),(3,-4)

Please explain this step by step.
I need to know what formulas to use and stuff like that.

Standard form: y = ax^2+bx+c

Well the standard form you have on display is used to find the vertex in precal. So I suggest you find the slope using two of the three points given (slope intercept form), and then find the vertex. If you have to graph it then you can draw out the graph and also get the equation
