Let q be the number of candy corns Glen purchases

Since price per pound caramel is 0.95 cost of caramel

=0.95p

Since price per pound candy corns is 0.79 cost of caramel

=0.79q

Total pounds = Glens bag weight = p+q =1.7

and total cost = 0.95p+0.79q = 1.48

Hence we can write the number of pounds of candy corn in two ways

q = 1.7-p and

q=\frac{1.48-0.95p}{0.79}
