What is the solution to the system of equations? y = 2x – 3.5 x – 2y = –14 (–7, 3.5) (3.5, –7) (7, 10.5) (10.5, 7)

y = 2x-3.5 ----->1

x-2y=-14. ----->2

1 into 2

x-2(2x-3.5)=-14

x-4x+7=-14

-3x=-14-7

-3x=-21

x=-21/-3

x=7 --- -->3

3 into 1

y = 2x-3.5

y=2(7)-3.5

y=10.5

Answer:

Putting the first equation into the second equation, we have

x - 2(2x - 3.5) = -14

x - 4x + 7 = -14

-3x = -21

x = 7

y = 2(7) - 3.5 = 14 - 3.5 = 10.5

Therefore the solution is (7, 10.5)
