Daniel left school at the end of grade 9.He found school very difficult because he had dyslexia, a learning disability. Daniel 'so goal was to study at the Hotel School to become a professional chef.As he did not have a matric pass.Daniel could not go to the Hotel School.He could also not afford to pay study fees.His parent were not willing to assist him because they thought his goal was unrealistic.Daniel found a job as a waiter at a restaurant near home.He had no transport so he used to walk to work and back three nights a week . because he liked cooking so much, Daniel decided to use his skills to earn some money.He started a small catering business ,cooking family meals that people could order and collect from his home.His business was quite successful and allowed him to save money to work towards his goal.As a result of his catering axperience he was offered a job as an assistant chef in the restaurant where he worked at night. Daniel got a job as a trainee restaurant manager in a well known hotel in Cape Town.But he had not given up hin dream of going to the Hotel School.He applied again . because of all his axperience in the catering and restaurants business, he was accepted,even though he did not have a matric pass.He had saved enough money to pay for the first years fees.His parents saw how determined he was to achieve his goal and agree to lend him the money for the rest of his studies.
