The E-Field is uniform BETWEEN THE PLATES. So the answer is the last choice. Any questions please just ask! Thank u!

Every so often you get a question that is ambiguously worded or ambiguously thought out. This one is an example. You have to pick the best answer, not the answer that is actually true.

The true answer is between the plates absent the region near the ends. Once you get outside on the left and right side of either of the plates, the lines bend and the field lines are not uniform.

Moving the plates 1 meter apart doesn't help. It may delay the bending at the ends, but as long as there is any tendency to bend, the field is not uniform.

D is your best answer, but it is certainly a hold your nose situation.

The test charge is still plus. So the direction of the field is towards q2. q2 is minus and therefore the positive charge will move towards it.

The distances have to be converted to meters.

30 cm * [1 m/100cm ] = 0.30 m

20 cm * [1 m/100 cm] = 0.20 m

Next we need to set up the field formula.

E = kq/r^2

q1 = 30 nano C = 30 * 10^-9

k = 8.99 * 10^9

r = 0.30 m
