American culture flourished during the 1920s. Poetry was written to describe the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression. (1) Write a poem describing today’s culture. Your poem needs to be at least sixteen lines. It does not have to rhyme, but it may. (2) After writing the poem, you need to write a two-paragraph essay comparing the culture of the 1920’s to today’s culture. Use specific historical examples in your essay.

Today's culture is the culture of no culture

Today's culture is the culture of no one

Nobody is there at home talking with dad

they are hidden online

Somebody is talking with someone

I can see just a computer

No people having real friends

people talking online

Anxiety comes slowly

Lonelyness is about to come

A computer is just a machine

people learning online

tomorrow won't change

it is about to rain

my friends are at home

and lonelyness is about to come.

Comparison of the culture of 1920's and today's culture.

It is difficult to compare two different stages in history but I am going to mention some of the things that we have now that didn't exist in the 1920's In the 1920's a mouse was just an animal now it is also a useful gadget to work with computers. In the 1920's there was no cable TV. The first mechanical TV station was called W3XK. That TV station aired its first broadcast on July second 1928. There was no internet, there were no chatting rooms, there were no color TVs. There were no remote controls. There were no cellphones. However, people were happier at that time from my point of view because music was more romantic and they didn't know that the Great Depression of 1930 was about to begin.
