Similar to braising, stews call for slow cooking and low temps. With braises, where you're adding the least amount of liquid required to cook the meat or vegetables, stews require full submersion, and usually call for the meat or vegetables to be cut into uniform pieces for even cooking.

Step-by-step explanation:

The main difference between braising and stewing is:

Braising is for cooking large pieces of meat or full birds such as Boston butt, rump roast, beef short ribs Whereas Stewing is cooking small pieces of meat such as chopped meat, chicken curry, goulash.

Braising needs very slow cooking because this provides large pieces of meat to cook very gently leaving meat delicious and very soft and it is shifted to the oven.

Stewing meats are cut into uniform in size and usually done on the stove or gas.
