2 1/3=7/3 because 2×3+1=7. 1 1/4=5/4 because 1×4+1=5. So the equation is (7/3)×(5/4). Multiply the numerators, so 7×5=35, then multiply the denominators, so 3×4=12. So the answer is 35/12 feet. To simplify it, we do 35÷12, which equals 2 remainder 11 out of 12, so the answer is 2 11/12
