When the Socs show up, Ponyboy says he feels nothing. Why? Do you think this change in

Ponyboy will be permanent? Do you think he would have used the bottle?

He feels nothing because no one has hit him. It can't be permanent. He's going to feel pain at some point. I think he would've used the bottle.

He says he feels nothing. Essentially he's in a state of "numbness". Feeling sort of depressed I guess you could say. I don't think this change will be permanent neither do I think he would have used the bottle.
