if you do 5 divide by 4 then you can find what 1$ would be worth so ie.
5 divide by 4 is 1.25 which means that for 1$ you could buy 1.25 ounces

Answer:

x= 1 1/4 ounces

Explanation:

We can use a proportion to solve this problem. Put the cost over the number of ounces.

$4 $1

---------- = ---------------

5 ounces x ounces

Using cross products

4x =1*5

Divide each side by 4

x =5/4

x= 1 1/4 ounces
