Where x is the percent discount

Now solve for X

You’ll get about 0.55

B) 53.46 with tax

WORK:

Mulitply 49.5 by 1.08

We can use 1.08 since the 49.50 is already the 100 percent and the 8 percent is just extra so when multiplied it should give you 53.46

Double check:

We can also just find 8 percent of 49.5 and get 3.96

When added, it should result in 53.46
