Two hot air balloons are traveling along the same path from a town beginning from different locations at the same time. Henry balloon begins 15 miles from the town and is 31 miles from town after 2 hours. The distance of Tasha's balloon from the town is represented by the function y equals 5x + 25. What balloon was faster?

The following is how we can determine whose balloon was faster at the beginning and the one that moved more quickly;

For Henry,

x = 0 miles

y = 15 miles

x = 2 hours, y = 31 miles

For Tasha,

y = 5x + 25

At the beginning, x = 0

Substituting 0 in the above equation gives;

y = 5(0) + 25

y = 25 miles at the start

After 2 hours;

y = 5(2) + 25

y = 35 miles

Henry's speed was 12 miles per hour while Tasha's speed was 6 miles per hour.

So, Tasha's balloon was farther from the town at the beginning but Henry's balloon traveled more quickly.
