Even though the number starts out small at first, it gets infinitely larger.

For example square 1 has 1 grain of rice, square 2, square 3 has 4, square 4 has 8, square 5 has 16 and so on.

The reason why the number got so large was because there are 64 squares on a chessboard, meaning the last square would have to hold 18,000,000,000,000,000,000 grains of rice!
