I NEED HELP PLS WITH THIS MATH QUESTION ASAP The Coat on Sale

Harris's Department Store was
trying to sell a winter coat which
n o one seemed to want. First, they
tried to sell it for 20% off the
marked price, but no one would
buy it. Then, they tried to sell it for
25% off the first sale price, but still
no one would buy it. Finally, they
offered it for 30% off of the second
sale price, and someone actually
bought the coat for $21.
What price did Harris's originally
try to sell the coat for?

Answer:

$50

Explanation:

To get previous prices, divide by what you would have multiplied to get the next price. X*.70 (that’s 30% off)=21. So... 21/.70=X. Repeat for each price change... (((21/.7)/.75)/.8)=$50.
