Use substitution
2x + 3(12 - 5x) = 11
Distributive property
2x + 36 - 15x = 11
Combine like terms
-13x + 36 = 11
Subtract 36
-13x = -25
x = 25/13
y = 12 - 5(25/13)
y = 31/13
Solution: x = 25/13, y = 31/13
