The local Gaming store decides to mark up the price of their video games during the Christmas

season. They decide to increase the price to $72. The original price was $60. What is the
percent increase of the video game?

Subtract

$72 - $60 = $12

$12 profit

You then put the profit increase OVER the original price, making it a fraction. 12/60 now if you simplify this it is 1/5.

1/5 into a decimal is .20 and .20 to percentage is .20 x 100 = 20%

You can turn fractions to a decimal by diving the numerator by denominator. Just think of the line as the word DIVIDE.

Answer: 20% increase
